For my mom's 80th 21st birthday party (she'll only claim 21 so who am I to argue) I decided to make tablecloths that represented her favorite things.  I'm learning to use my new embroidery machine so making them was a BLAST!!!

First up are the bunnies.  This is the one I like the most.  It was made using fabrics I was given from my great aunt's estate.  I looked and looked and looked for a pattern to use with these vintage pieces and finally settled on the traveling bunnies.  This one isn't technically machine embroidery but applique, but since I used my machine to do the blanket stitching I'm including it anyway.  I followed a pattern from a book.

Mountains and columbine.
Sorry the color is so weird in this.  I was trying to take pictures under the funky lights in the gym/auditorium where we had the party.

Wagon Wheels.
Well, I am waggonswest!   Wink

Leaves.

Birds.

Book worms.

Apples.

Yellow Hearts.

Spring flowers.

Here is close up of the pansy.  I was so excited when I learned how to make the mitered corners and then use a decorative stitch to hold it in place.  Some were done with a rolled hem, but I had a lot of problems getting those edges to look nice.

Sewing.

Native American symbols.

The room with the tables.
It is awfully difficult to make a gym look fancy even with carpet for the floor.

Oh my gosh!  Those must have taken forever to do!  There are so many different ones.  Your mom is such a lucky lady!
