This is my first time posting a pattern to this site, and it's the first pattern I've made. I've tested it multiple times myself, but if you find any problems with it, please let me know!

Quick `n Easy Catnip Toys

Supplies
* WW yarn in any multi or solid color
* G hook
* Poli-fiberfill
* Dried catnip (I use SmartyKat Organic catnip)

Note: Gauge isn't an issue, just make sure your stitches are tight enough to keep the catnip and fiberfill from showing through or coming out. Also, this toy is made in just two parts! My cats Gamma and Zeta love them, and your kitty will, too!

The Ball
With WW yarn and G hook:

Rnd 1:  6 SC in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2:  2 SC in each SC around (12)
Rnd 3:  2 SC in each SC around (24)
Rnd 4-9: SC in each SC around (24)
Rnd 10: DEC over 2 SC around (12)
* Start stuffing at this point by either mixing fiberfill and catnip together, or stuffing the toy in layers of fiberfill and catnip. Continue to stuff in either matter as you finish up in the next step.
Rnd 11: DEC over 2 SC around (6).  F/O, leaving a long tail for sewing.  Add any stuffing needed to finish out the shape now. Weave the tail through the last rnd made, pull gently to close. Secure and weave in end.

The Tail
With WW yarn and G hook:

Slip stitch to join new yarn to ball at the last step done. Chain stitch until the chain is as long as you want(I like to make mine 12-18 inches long). Once your chain is the length you want, slip stitch or SC back down your chain. Once you get back to the start of your chain, slip stitch to the ball again.  F/O, secure and weave in ends.

Give it to your cat to enjoy!

As a quick side note, you can also ch 2 and SC 6 into the second ch from the hook if you don't know how to use the magic ring or don't like using it.

WOW........Just the thing I needed.  My cats destroyed the last string toy on a wand I had, and I was about to head to PetCo to get another. Thanks for sharing this  Grin Grin Grin Grin

BTW, love the "action shot" too!

Thanks!  I'd love to see what it looks like when you get it done.  I love seeing how my patterns turn out when other people make them.
