OK, I am asking for my best friend. She, of course like most of us, is going through money problems. She doesn't think she'll be able to get gifts for anyone. So, I am trying to convince her to let me help her and show her/help her how to handmake gifts. She wants to concentrate on the 4 kids she needs gifts for first. Little girl age 1, little boy age 4, little girl age 4, boy age 12. Can anyone throw me some ideas? I'm going to her house on Wednesday to brainstorm....it'd be nice to have some ideas from the wonderful craftsters out there... I dunno what her abilities are, I can crochet and beginner sewing..... And I am open to really ANY kind of idea! Thanks to all in advance!

For the one year old, you could make a taggie blanket or a simple stuffie. They are usually very easy to please. Smiley

For the 4 yr olds, I would do something like finger puppets or a memory game. You can do easy felt finger puppets and the memory game can be made using fabric or wooden tiles.

The 12 yr old would be harder. It really depends on what he likes.  You could do a stencil on a shirt, using freezer paper. A simple stencil should be easy enough. I've heard of folks using contact paper too, if you happen to have that lying around.

Of course you could do PJs for everyone. There are some simple patterns out there.

I hope that helps!!

For the baby, a stuffed toy - crocheted, or sewn.  Something soft, squishy, and cuddly.

For the 4 year olds, what about these:

Crocheted piggy game

Or a fabric book, felt food and a set for playing picnic, or tea, or cooking, or a set to play dress up with (yarn wigs, handmade jewelry, tiaras, etc, in a purse, bag, trunk, etc).  Or just make a princess kit, or fairy kit - tiaras, wings, wands in a cute sack.  Paint or drawing sets, and crafting aprons, crafting kits, crayon rolls, or ribbon/cork/magnet boards (maybe one with magnetic chalkboard paint - they can draw, and stick up their artwork, or play with magnetic letters, pictures, play games like tictactoe).

For the 12 year old, that would depend on what he likes to do.  I agree with the shirt based on something he is interested in (favourite sport, or gaming character).  Food.  If he has a portable video game - a cosy for it?  Scoodie in his favourite colours?  Decorated/personalized hoodie?

thanks for the ideas- love the ideas for the freezer paper! I helped her make playdough for the four year olds. I told her about the freezer paper and she's talking with the parent about it to get a feel on the idea. As for me- I have a new craft I am obsessed with and I plan on making 2 jackets for myself ^_^ thank you very much for your replies!
