what cracks me up about your post is - i work in a psychiatric hospital, and they've been renovating lately and trying to update everything to more appealing colors and what not, and almost every freaking wall in the building is now that god-awful, mental-asylum butter yellow you speak of!  and to make matters worse, they are accenting it with chocolate brown door facings and base boards!  i feel like i work inside a butter-cake.

that being said, i LOVE your room makeover - especially the living room with the turquoise - and that mirror above the fireplace is just perfect!

That just made my night!!! Too funny! That is a terrible wall color combo!!!! But delicious in cake form..

We moved into the most amazing 1200 square foot heritage apartment (10 foot ceilings! agh!!) in Vancouver, and decorating it has been my DREAM!!

The loving room was Green before, which was okay, but not neutral enough for my endless changing out of things and furniture!

Very nice;  the gray lends a touch of elegance.
I chose a grey for the walls!

I bought some tree vinyl wall decals for the big living room wall, and I was super happy how they turned out!

The kitchen before was a glossy "mental asylum butter yellow" and it never felt clean to me for some reason:

SO I painted the room a neutral taupe-grey (yeah I tend to lean towards greys!) IMMEDIATELY the built in china cabinet looked cleaner and now it feels much nicer to bake in..

I love this place! I am having way too much fun with it. Smiley I will post my other rooms and projects later on!

I absolutely and utterly adore this, I want a house now, just so I can do this.

Love your wall color choice. It really makes the white trim pop and looks so much cleaner

So jealous, this place is beautiful. I like the grey for the walls, it makes it feel really elegant.

I never would have thought to paint a room gray, but it looks great and everything else really stands out from it!

Truly Lovely! We painted our bathroom an almost identical shade "Ashes" from Behr. It's so soothing and cool and clean. Love it in the living room!

I LOVE the gray with the aqua and red!  I never would have thought of putting those 3 colors together, but they look AWESOME.
