Save The Children offers medical care to people in the slums of Delhi. Many children there die from undercooling. Save the Children is collecting knitted (or chrochet like I did, I suck at knitting) baby hats to hand out to new parents. (Netherlands only)

I do wonder though why here we are knitting baby hats for children in India, while in India they make clothes for the European market. Something's fucked up here. But still: help! Cause we need to help those parents keep their babies warm.

Thanks for pointing this out!  Smiley Now to search for wool that isn't too itchy. I normally use baby yarn for a project like this, but there's a synthetic component there most of the time and they don't want that. What did you use?

I guess anyone willing to send a hat can do so to the address below before the 27th of February 2011, or am I wrong there and is there a specific reason why you said Netherlands only?

With Netherlands only I meant that this is not a worldwide thing. Of course anyone from everywhere can send their hats to Holland  Cheesy They can use lots 'n lots of them.

I used Phildar Partner, it's a wool and synthetic mix. They told me in the shop that it should be fine for this.

Don't get mad: get started!!  Wink

I think knitting might be better because it stretches more. But I really suck at knitting...

They are cute! I saw an item about this project in a Dutch tv show ('de wereld draait door') and immediately thought of your lovely hats.
