i am trying to do a hexagon stocking. and every pattern i do i will get to the second or third row and it isn't looking like a hexagon anymore or it curls up and i can't get any of them to work. is there something i'm doing wrong?

Do you have any pictures?  That will help us figure out what's going on.

Generally, if a project done in the round starts to turn into a bowl shape, it means you don't have enough stitches.  If it starts to ruffle, it means you have too many stitches.

Your best bet is to count your stitches carefully and see if anything weird is going on there.  Try finding a pattern that gives a stitch count at the end of every round for easy checking.

If it's not a stitch count problem, it could be your gauge... try going up (if you have a bowl) or down (if it's ruffling) a hook size and see if that helps.
