Gah!

So I got to the post office today with 4 envelopes: one for the inchie swap and the three for this swap.

I had the incredible luck of getting the lady who constantly complains about her job, pays no attention to the customer, and is just generally not fun to be around.

She stuck the postage stickers on the envelopes without looking, covering up my designs Angry

She didn't check thickness, just glanced at them and charged me more Angry

I didn't complain because apparently she was already having a bad day and I didn't want to make it worse, but I was irratated.

For the inchie swap, which was way under an ounce since it was just 25 inchies and the thickness of a greeting card, I got charged $0.64

For two envies of equal weight (0.50 ounce) and thickness, both got charged $0.64...because she didn't CHECK them! They squished down to near nothing and would have TOTALLY have been able to fit through the slot  Angry

And of course, I knew I was going way over on the last envie since it had heavy stuff in it, it was 1.5 ounces and I paid $1.39, which I'm okay with because I knew it would be over.

But the others shouldn't have been!

Gah! Customer service people! Complain about your job during your break or downtime, NOT around customers, ESPECIALLY when it is interfering with your work:P

Other than that, this was a very stress free swap and very enjoyable Cheesy

I am about to jump off to the gallery to post the pictures of the envies since the designs are covered up by the postal sticker (everyone else I've ever had checks the package for best placement if I've decorated the envelope:P). Don't worry, you won't know which envelope is yours, since I have all of the addresses covered up Wink

Good story to relay to your local postmaster. She doesn't need the job.

Dizzer,

So sorry to hear about your bad post office experience. I too got the lady at my local office who ALWAYS seems to be in a bad mood. I try being nice to her, but she doesn't ever seem too enthused about being at her job. She did check my envelopes, though. I was cutting it close I knew, so I wasn't surprised when she charged me more.

Anyway, I have seeeeeent, and I hope they arrive in one piece!

Postal workers must be having a crabby day globally.  My mail carrier's backup person just came up my driveway with a package telling me she was going to measure my driveway and if it's a half mile long they won't deliver packages to us any more.  I told her it's .4 miles long, and the house has been here for 15 years and the driveway didn't recently enlongate.  Merry $@#%'ing Christmas to you, too.  grrr.

I'm guessing they're probably experiencing their holiday rush at this time. Must be a lot of packages and cards going through the system!

I know a lot of postal workers, this is the absolute worst time of year for them and locally the PO is not a very pleasant place to work in general.
Not that this excuses a lack of professionalism...

Anywhoo, I received a beautiful envelope from tristitia with some very interesting items in it.  Cool stuff!  I will post pics soon, I gotta get teacher gifts done.   Smiley
