Hi, quilters! I'm working on my first quilt. Here's a little story behind it: This summer, I found a half finished quilt sitting in my grandma's barn and thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. So I asked my dad about it and he said that my great great grandma started making it back in the 1960's but didn't finish it for some reason. I think she died or something.  Cry I thought it would be nice to honor her by finishing it. So I have been working on it whenever possible and here are the in progress pictures. I aim to finish this over my winter break next month.  Cheesy And oh yeah, I'm definitely going to make more. I'm hooked. It's relaxing to sew quilts, mirite? Wink It's meditative. And for some reason the colors are all wonky-they look a lot better in real life.  Tongue

Some of the pieces lain out before being sewn together.

Pieces cut out and arranged on the sewn together quilt top.

Obligatory artsy shot. Wink

Closeup of the back material. It's a flat sheet I didn't want to waste.

I love the vintage fabrics in this quilt-I think Grandma would be proud.  Grin

I think it's pretty awesome that you're finishing up your great great grandmother's quilt. I love the fabrics being used.

What an awesome find! It's such a valuable piece of your family history! And I totally agree, quilting is awesome. I'm about to start on a new one, myself. I love the fabrics in this! They are gorgeous. I think this will be a valuable (sentimentally) heirloom. It's really awesome!

Its really cute and it makes it a million times better having such an awesome story behind it, i make alot for my kids and family members so they have a little story when asked about them.
