I've finally jumped on the up-cycled newspaper/magazine bandwagon. Inspired by some newspaper coasters my sister had made me awhile back I used two magazines to create this bowl. It has a slightly oval shape and is pretty large. I don't really need anymore catchall fruit bowls so this will probably be some lucky persons Christmas present this year.  I used wood glue to adhere the magazine pages together (for some reason I had a lot of this) and it seems to be holding up pretty well.  As I was working on it I also used paperclips to hold the strips to the bowl as they dried.  The best part about this project was that the magazines were even free as I used otherwise worthless to me airline miles to get free magazine subscriptions.  This means that this bowl didn't cost me anything except for time and glue, and I still have lots of glue left.

Very cool!  And relatively free to make - you can't beat that!  Did it take you very long?  I have an entire shelf of old magazines I want to do something with, but I like instant gratification - I'm too impatient!
Great job on this, by the way

You did such a great job!
I love things made from old magazines! I've always wanted to have a whole set of these filled with different objects set out.

I didn't find it too time consuming, although it may not quite be a instant gratification project. I spent two days on this, although I forget exactly how many hours I spent in total.  The first day I could have been done with only a smaller bowl (such as to use for keys or such), but I was really hoping for something bigger so I kept going.
