I have just participated in my first hoopla swap & really enjoyed it. It gave me the idea of stitching some of my favourite quotes, lines from songs books etc to be displayed in hoops. Here's the first one (which is actually wrongly proportioned for a hoop, but such is life).

It's actually part of a longer quote from the Terry Pratchett book Maskerade, and the picture of Greebo is, I think, from Paul Kidby's Art of Discworld.  I still have some detail to finish It's now finished, & though I don't think I did his rakish smile justice (the link to the original is here: http://www.paulkidby.com/sepiacards/index.html) I'm pretty happy with it.

You can get oval hoops too and I think I have even seen square and rectangle hoops with rounded edges. Might set you back a bit more or be harder to find, but you could still hoop him and hang it!

Nice detail on the character, the half crosses work really well to show the details.

Great stitching! It looks like a comic book drawing.

It is, kind of. Though Kidby has done many of the Discworld characters in full colour, and I think there is one of Greebo in his cat form in full colour, Greebo as a human was only ever done in sepia toned.

@casey the hedgehog - I'll tell you a secret - I didn't chart it. I hadn't yet got my graphing program working in Linux, so I took the picture, made it a really light grey & printed it right on to the aida cloth. Worked like a charm.

Haha, so cool! And I love how neatly you did the text - it flows really well, whenever I attempt text it comes out a stilted mess!

Once I learned the trick to text (that there's really only two or three types of letters) I don't even bother to chart it any more.
