My daughter just turned 5, and for her birthday party I wanted to give the kids something nicer that the typical goodie bag stuffed with candy and penny toys......so, I made each child a toy roll:

Boys received Car Caddy's filled with 5 Hot Wheels cars

Girls received Mini-Doll Carriers with a Polly Pocket set

I only had 6 children to make these for, so it was doable.  Each roll took about 20 minutes and the dolls and cars were under $5.00 each.

The kids and Moms LOVED them!

I posted a free tutorial on my blog if you feel like making some of your own: http://sewplicity.blogspot.com/2010/11/tutorial-car-caddy-miniature-doll.html

Thanks for looking!

You now realize you have 6 moms that HATE YOU!!! lol
What a great idea! Much more clever than a bag of candy and toys that will break in an hour!

Great time of year to find inexpensive sets to use for other birthday parties to come!
happy sewing!

I wish I had known about these when my boys were little.  They would have loved them then.
