That does look great!  I wasn't sure from your description, but the pictures prove it!  So the "paper" left on the walls, is it actual wallpaper under the top layer of wallpaper or is it that sort of papery residue wallpaper leaves behind?

It's kind of like another thin layer of paper that gets left behind. Think 2-ply kleenex when you separate the layers. Here is a during picture, you can see the residue paper left in the stairway, while the other wall is still wet.



I like this, and I like to imagine that you did it all in one afternoon and your husband was very surprised when he came home. Totally beats steaming off the old paper!

I actually did do it in an afternoon and my hubs was quite happy with it when he got home. Bonus points for me! Cheesy

This looks great. It gives such a warm feel to the hall. I've done similar looks with glazes and and rags. Great idea using what you have to make a look that is so designer.

I love it, too!!!  It looks so amazing with the wood (and I think I covet that beam/post we can see  Wink).  Such a great job!!!!!

Whoa!  What an improvement!  I also dislike wallpaper, but never would have thought to do this!  Plus, it doesn't look like it was dyed with tea and coffee.  Wonderful job!
