My first project- Hedgehog pincushion

I know it's not as impressive as all the cool stuff everyone else on this forum is making but I thought at least it might inspire a fellow beginner!

If you wanted to make it I would perhaps put a 2nd layer of felt or a slightly smaller bit of cardboard (to accomodate stitching) in the base.  Just because I found it had a little bit of a bulgy bottom!  Also I could get the template for the 2nd (brown) layer out there if anyone needed it.  I just made it about 2mm bigger than the white layer.

I had to look because my friend is an animal lover and has a cat, dog, bunny already at home and her BF told her that she is not allowed to bring home a hedgehog!

So I went out and got all the stuff I need to make one of these myself for a friend who is a new sewer and not allowed any more pets at home! It is kind of a joke gift but one she can use!

I found gold ball tipped pins and thought they would look great as the pricklies, $5 for 20- can you see where it says sucker on my forehead? lol

I think I am going to make a boy one and a girl one adding a bow on the girly one!

I have so fallen in love with this little guy!

I love this! I love pincushions where the pins actually add something to the overall effect (e.g., Voodoo doll), and yours is just fantastic...he looks so philosophical about the whole thing.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!  It's awesome to hear!  I think I will put some tips I found when making him.  I can even sort out a template for the 2nd layer of its coat if anyone wanted it

Very cute!  I can see all sorts of different animals being made from that basic shape too.  It is unquestionably a hedgehog, which is great.  Sometimes I make things and people can't figure out what it's supposed to be... but this is identifiable and simple.  Wonderful job!
