I love having reusable wrapping around for Christmas giving, especially if it's something I've made. I also love altering Altoid tins. I recently got some new Christmas ornament dies from Spellbinders, and I love the way the smallest sizes fit so well on the front of the tin. The great thing about Altoid tins is that they are the perfect size to hold gift cards, so even though some people on my list are getting something that may not be the cleverest of gifts, at least the card holder is cute!  Cheesy

Here's the top of the tin:

I cut out a few different versions of each size of the ornament, and then cut and stacked them for a more dimensional effect. I also blinged them up a bit with some Dresden trim. The paper I used are from my current favorite paper company: Graphics45.

Here's the side:

I glued a ribbon around the edge, and added a little charm. I think it's a sweet package.

I wrote about this project and others I made with Spellbinders dies on the Craftster Blog. Go check them out. Leave a comment, and you will have a chance to WIN all the projects I made, including this tin!

Now I've got to get busy and make some more tins for my gift giving.  Cheesy

I LOVE it! I'm so new to paper crafts-how did you get different papers to work with the dies?

Ooh, Racky, that's really gorgeous!  I have a question, though.  Do you burnish the top of the tin before covering it, to smooth it?

I am so in love with those papers!

That is such a beautiful way to spice up a gift card. I always feel like I'm taking the easy way out when I give gift cards, but there are some people that really want/need them. This would be a great way to give them a little something homemade as well!

Thanks! I cut out two or three of the full ornament in different papers, and then used one for the base. I cut parts out of the others and just glued them on the base to make a multi-colored ornament.

I'm lucky and have some of the OLD Altoid tins, with flat lids. I'm hoping that when I run out of those, my paper will be thick enough to cover the bumpy parts of the newer tins. I found that Paul Newman makes some mints in a non-bumpy tin that's the same size as Altoids. I may have to start buying those.

Now that is awesome. <3 Can you do that with the newer Altoids tins though? They have a raised border around the word "Altoids" so that might make it kind of tricky.  Undecided

I haven't tried it on one of the newer tins, but I'm hoping that some of my heavier scrapbook paper will be thick enough to cover their embossing. If not, I'll just have to look for other brands of tins. I know there are some out there that are not embossed, like Paul Newman's.
