Favorite Hot Winter/Fall Beverage

Mine: Hot Apple Cider.

My favorite recipe

Apple juice
Rum
Stick cinnamon
Bay leaf
Cardamom pods
Star Anise
Muscovado brown sugar
Clementines
Ginger


Burn off some of the alcohol (not much!) with moscovado and spices.
Add apple juice, ginger, clementines.
Let roll for a bit. Then simmer, and extract ginger (to not over do).
All depends on taste and how much spice you like.
If not wanting too much spice or alcohol, it's up to you!

Me, I like it spicy and alcohol-y. Yum!

Mm sounds good - wish I had some cider in now, it's so cold outside! I love mulled wine, but really good hot chocolate with bailey's is amazing - we had it at our wedding reception instead of champagne and it went down so well! Simmer milk, grate in plenty of good-quality dark chocolate and add a cinnamon stick, couple of cardamom pods, a good pinch of nutmeg, and just before you serve a good glug of Bailey's (Irish cream).

I call my favorite drink Adult hot cocoa.

Prepare cocoa like usual and add a generous dash of Hot Damn (cinnamon liqueur) before drinking. It will open up your sinuses and make you smile.

Don't forget minty hot chocolate or white hot chocolate!

Minty Hot Chocolate
- crush a peppermint candy/small candy cane as finely as possible
- mix with hot chocolate powder
- add hot milk
- optional: whipped cream/marshmallows on top with a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candy on top

White Hot Chocolate
- heat up milk
- add good quality white chocolate shavings/chunks
- stir until melted and smooth, enjoy!

I have a diabetic in the family, and the Kroger grocery sells boxes of sugar free spice cider mix. Gave it a try, and he loves it! There's so much you can't indulge in when you're on insulin.
A splash of orange juice is nice in any hot cider recipe.
I've been know to add chocolate syrup to my coffee, or a spoon of instant coffee to my hot cocoa. Sometimes you need chocolate and caffine!
Or a splash of Kaluha in good coffee? Mmm...

Mulled apple cider
It's actually what I'm drinking right now.

Take some apple juice or apple cider and put it in a crock pot with some cardamom pods, star anise, cinnamon stick, cloves, allspice, and orange peel. Let it steep together on low for about an hour then enjoy just how it is or add some rum, so good!

Irish Creme Hot Chocolate
pretty much the hot chocolate recipe from the Hershey's box with less sugar and some Irish creme coffee creamer (the liquid kind you keep in the fridge, not the powdered kind)

1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
dash of salt
1/3 c. water
3 c. milk
1 c. Irish Creme coffee creamer

Mix dry ingredients together in a saucepan, whisk in water, bring to boil, boil 2 minutes. Turn off heat (if you've got an electric stove, if you've got a gas stove, turn down heat to medium low) and whisk in milk and coffee creamer, let sit until warm, stirring occasionally.

It's delicious!

My own favorite is Irish coffee, which I think is a blend of hot, freshly brewed coffee, Baileys or other Irish cream, and maybe a dollop of whiskey and whipped cream.
