Hi All,
I'm visiting Sacramento in a week's time for work. I'm coming over from the UK and so am keen to stock up on some of the amazing sewing and craft items you have in the US.

My hotel is downtown and I'll be limited to walking and public transport to get anywhere.

So, where do you recommend I go? Your suggestions please!

Mid-town is really cool! Check out Yelp for ideas/reviews!

Are you here yet? I too am dependent on public transit. sacrt.com -> schedules, fares... -> "Online trip planner" Need to type in from - to addrs. I've always found it to be quite helpful. Look for the center city map. The ppl at the hotel are probably your best bet as for safest walking route and all. Daytime is usually safe.

Two places of interest are a bead shop... "Bead Fetish" "L" street near 18th. Been a couple of years since i've been there. That's in midtown and you might be able to walk there. 1725 L Street, Sacramento, CA
There is a yarn store "Rumpelstiltskin". you might be able to walk there too. 1021 R Street, Sacramento, CA 95811

I'm struggling with my bi-annual asthma attack or I would love to meet you.

Have fun.

Thanks for the tips Sue. I made it to Bead Fetish yesterday and it had so much choice. They had the cubic hematite  beads I've been looking for for ages so I'm very happy now!

I also made it to Jo-ann's on Sunday. I've read so much about it on here that I wanted to check it out. I had to take two buses each way on the limited Sunday timetable but an adventure for me. I'm a bit embarrassed at how much money I spent there. I'll have to make some time to start sewing again to use all the fabric I bought.

I hope your asthma is better soon - my sister suffers too, so I know know unpleasant it is.

I'm heading back to the cold wet UK tomorrow.

Thanks again.
