I want to sooo bad, but... Im allergic to metal. Kinda takes jewelry of the table for my partner. Unless she'll coat every bit of metal with a clear coat or clear nailpolish. Which is a lot of work. Since I'm prolly such a huge challenge, should I bother?

i put in my questionnaire that i'd rather not receive jewellery, and not because i'm allergic to metals, just because i don't really wear it very much  Undecided i listed embroidery, papercrafts, and any knitted/crocheted/sewn items in my questionnaire under my 'likes', even plushies, although how somebody could make a skeleton key cute and fluffy is beyond me as yet Tongue i'd also happily attempt to make something non-wearable for my partner, or coat anything in varnish for that matter. i think you should bother!

Yes, it definitely doesn't have to be jewelry... I just happened to find a lot of it while i was looking! I'd suggest wall art, or maybe something with shrinky dinks or something? I made an entire bracelet out of yarn and shrinky dinks for a partner who was allergic to metals! Also, my sister is allergic to metals but plays the flute, and a little clear nailpolish fixes it... you could even get some sort of spray sealer and just coat the whole thing if you really wanted jewelry! See, there are so many options, come join us!

I really want to do this one, but I promised my husband that I'd only do one swap at a time.  Hmmm... maybe I can convince him that it's small and shouldn't be too stressful.  I'll have to give it a try.

Oddly enough, I'm allergic to metal too.  I've never met anyone else who is, though, so I'm surprised that so many people have mentioned it in this thread.

Not that I want to dictate partners or anything, but in one of my etsy grab-bag purchases I got these great wooden key shaped pendants. Wood could totally work for foiling a metal allergy.
