I made a steampunk outfit for Halloween.  The underbust corset and mini top hat are made out of can tabs.

The part that took me the longest was my drink dispensing bustle, which is what I actually wore on Halloween.  Yes, that's right.  For Halloween, I hid two large tanks (2 liters each!) under my bustle and ran hoses to the front to dispense wine and water using a bicycle air pump.  The cutoffs to switch tanks were mounted just under/between my front corset lacings.  It worked pretty good!

You can barely see the cutoffs in front of my corset that were used to switch tanks.

*****  UPDATE  *****

I just shared more about the working of the drink dispensing bustle on my blog here.

Here's a better pic of the cutoffs:

Here are the inner workings of the drink dispenser:

The dress over my bustle was created using two identical thriftstore dresses.  I altered one to tie around my waist, keeping the sleeves attached.  I sewed the ends of the sleeves up to use as giant pockets to hold assorted items I didn't want to carry including 3-20oz. soda bottles for my friends.  Smiley

I didn't get very good pics of the corset and hat at the faire, so I retook some of just the corset and hat today to show the details.

Close up of the handpainted tabs:

Thanks for looking!  Hope you Halloween was as Can-TAB-ulous as ours was!

Thanks, lulusews and zilamonster!

It's a loooong story.  Cheesy  I started making things out of tabs a few years ago.  You can read all about that and more about my steampunk on my tabistry blog.  It was just natural to make my costume with some sort of can tabs in it.  Hehe

Your costume is so cool! I wish I had the skill to make myself an underbust corset.

Yep.  Sure did.  I drank about 1.5 liters of Zinfandel throughout the day, too.  The water tank was remarkably full at the end of the night.  Wink  If I wear it again, I'll need to attach a water gun to the water tank to get more use out of it, I think.

Your probably right.  I'll try to do that.  I just need to get some pics of it.  I had it packed in my trunk that was still in the car when I took the pics of the corset and hat.  Thanks for the suggestion.
