This was one of my first attempts at crocheting. I read over a pattern (I don't remember which one  Undecided) and then just used it as a guide line and made my own. I did more rounds and more stitches per round than the pattern had listed but it gave me a good starting point!
I used a multicolored yarn for the cup and a brownish black color for the tea. The tea string is made of crochet thread (white).

If you gently pull up on the tea string the tea opens just a little to allow you to store treasures inside of the cup. At first look though it appears to just be a crocheted cup Cheesy All I did was crochet the tea to the same size as the rim of the cup and then sewed almost all the way around. I the sewed the tea string into the side that was not attached to the cup.

Sorry for the blurry picture I was attempting to get the color scheme in this one.

I enjoyed making this cup (it ended up being a gift for my Mum Smiley )
Has anyone else crocheted something that had a "hidden" compartment or something?

That is so cute.  When I googled "crochet mushrooms" a little mushroom came up and the top came off so you could hide trinkets and things. I have it on my list of things to make.

Good idea! I once crocheted an amigurumi for a swap that had a hidden compartment inside - and when I was finished I realized it looked such a lot like putting things up his ass Grin A bit unfortunate Grin The tea cup is better suited for keeping secrets I guess Grin

Thank you Ruby! Although possibly unfortunate I bet no one would go looking in there for "treasures" Wink
