After debating for months what to do, I had a moment of brilliance and decided to be Ursula the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid for Halloween.
I did my research and noticed that everyone being Ursula decided they needed a purple long sleeved shirt and a tube top - not this chick!

My Zombie Husband decided to get in on the picture action.

I decided to go more along the lines of the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid, even though the costume is EPIC, the whole show completely distracts from itself...but it does make for awesome Halloween inspiration!
I used Simplicity Patterns 2589 (Skirt) and 2621 (hoop skirt).

The hoop skirt helped give the tentacles shape and the over skirt was there to look like the ocean, and so that you couldn't see my feet.  The skirt fabric is awesome!  It changes colors from blue to purple to green depending on which way you look at it!
The tentacles were made from a pattern my friend and I drew out and made from Halloween flocked swirly satiny somethin or another, and the bottom was made from a suede like fabric we found on clearance!  They were over stuffed with poly fiberfill and each tentacle has three hangers inside making them pose-able!!

My corest was also handmade but for another adventure...
oooo! I also made my gloves from the same material as the webbing between each tentacle!

Yeah, we had the whole gang! (PS, I made Ariel's Starfish hair clip out of yellow sculpey and two alligator clips that I use for my flower hair clips...bomb diggity!)

We can't forget hair and make up!
I made the wire frame for my hair and covered it in a wig that I found in the same color as my own hair...I had a show that night and only had 30seconds to get ready...so I cut apart a wig and gelled and pinned it all over my frame, then weaved my own hair through it!
And I can't forget the Shell Necklace that Ursula captures Ariel's voice in!  I took three different colors of Sculpey, smooshed them all together and sculpted a sea shell...I twisted the 12 gauge wire and added the chain and findings to make my necklace.  You can't see them, but I have her purple earrings as well (that I made from purple sculpey and attached to earring findings).
This was easily the coolest costume I've made and can't wait to wear it again for ComicCon in July!!!!  I wonder if I can get Zombie Husband to agree to be the french chef!?

My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night.  But oh, my friends, and oh, my foes, it gives a lovely light.

Life is confusing, just when you think it's over it throws you a view like this and you don't know where you are.

This is fantastic!  I LOVE your execution of the tentacles and the "sea" skirt.  It's definitely one of the best Ursula costumes I've ever seen.  (And now I want to see the musical!)
