I had a great Halloween, and made 4 costumes, so deciding was hard, but not so hard because 2 belonged to a set. My niece said I could be a Pirate PRINCESS - not a body pirate. she wanted to be a mermaid - with pants so I can walk run and jump. And she said Grandma had to be protector of the sea. here are the best pics I have
I made EVERYTHING for my pirate costume. I bought a cheap tricorn hat and fancied it up, made a silk blouse - after having ear infections all week prior to the even though I kept warm and wore it over my fleece coat and stayed toasty warm. The skirt is 2 layers of black and white with attched red bustle. black vest is just simple cotton and gold grommets to tye it closed. The boots are black vinyl, with gold gromments up the front to tie close, They are glued onto a comfy pair of runners. Underneath the skirt is pair of black velour leggings that were a reconned pair of old sweats.
In the back view is also the "Protector of the sea" - A cape with a giant pearl coloured satin shell applique, and painted fish and the words "protector of the sea". Her hat is just a sparkle felt bucket with elastic 1/2 way up the side. again tub stickers of shells and the words "protector of the sea"
made of velour to keep her warm, and large enough to fit over fleece sweater and pants. the hair is a storebought wig, but I made everything else.
the end of the night after being outside in the chilly air for almost 6 hours (me) and 4 hours (my niece), luckily the bakery and some stores were open to warm up in, here we are watching the fireworks. They do this evnt annually out at our local heritage town, this was my first year going and I'm already planning to go next year:)
