This scarf came out of a contest to pick a literary figure and what they would knit. I picked Sherlock Holmes...

Not only does this look well made and in a nice color and style, but I can see it in a Holmesian setting. I would love a scarf like this if I didn't live somewhere too warm for double knitting. That was an interesting idea for a contest, too.

Oh, oh, oh - wow!

I have never tried double knitting - although my aunt excels at it.
Perhaps I would get her to teach me - if you would supply that great hounds-tooth pattern!
That pattern is brilliant! Much better than boring old checks and squares.

Oh my, I haven't had time to check the forum in quite a while. :$

@ wifeofbath - I'll look for the original website and see if it's still active

@ Neapolitan - That is Lady from DMC3. It's from a pic I swiped acquired somewhere on the Internet. Do you play the game?

@ Jane2 - I will look for the chart. I have it at home in Excel so I can create a gif with it. I think.

Okey dokey. Thanks again for your compliments!

First here's the website from the original contest: http://www.purlescence.co.uk/storytellers/

And here's the grid I used for the hounds-tooth checks. In double-knitting, each square equals two stitches -- one on the front and one on the back of the work. I did have some scribbles notes about the process, I'll look for them.
