Crafty People in Saginaw!

Am I the only crafty person in Saginaw? Please prove me wrong! I'd love to trade with people in the Tri-City area or find a crafting buddy

i'm in Bay City  ...but i just moved here a few months ago, so i'm still pretty new to the area.  (in other words, the only craft stores i know of is JoAnn's in midland and walmart)  does anyone know if there are any other craft shops, or events that go on in this area? 

i have seen a few small shops for like sewing and stuff around where i am, but i still havent checked them out yet.

There aren't a whole lot of events in the area.  There are occasionally some craft shows in Freeland (where I live).  Most shows tend to feature very "homespun" type crafts.  Grandma-type things.  Here is a list of some 2007 craft shows, but they all tend to be pretty much the same and draw the same type of crowd.  They also have pretty strict rules for having a booth (having done oh-so-many other shows, blah blah blah.)  Freeland has a pretty good craft show during the Walleye festival.  I did it one year when I was maybe 14.  There was a pretty good turnout for a nice day.  I really wish there was more of an alternative craft movement in the Tri-Cities.  Maybe it is up to us to start it!

As for stores, there is an Essexville Jo-Ann location, though it is about as small as Midland.  There is a superstore in Saginaw on Tittabawassee Rd.  (Where I work).  There's also a Michael's in Midland by the mall and in Saginaw on Bay Rd. across from the mall, and a Hobby Lobby a little further down Tittabawassee.  There's a pretty cute little bead store down the road from me in Freeland (298 S. Main St (M-47) Freeland)

i'll have to check some of these places out, tho i'm more of a crocheter than anything, but i've tried a lot of other crafts.

Welcome to the thumb-crotch!  There are some pretty nice yarn shops in Frankenmuth (hour or so away from Bay City).

Frankenmuth is definitely a nice place to go if you have the money for it, otherwise I suggest not. I'm quite a fan of the clearance fabric scraps at the Super Wally World out on Tittabawasee in Saginaw Township. Also I noticed that the Dollar Tree on Gratiot in Saginaw had a decent selection of Lion Fun Fur (as does the one in GR on 28th street) which I have seen go for $4-7 a skein elsewhere - definitely a bargain. Saginaw doesn't have a Big Lots anymore but Bay City might - so check them out for good deals too.

I just moved back to Grand Rapids though so no more Saginaw for me. Luckily the Big Lots here has decent $1 furry yarn too

Last time I was there, Bay City had a Big Lots.  There are 2 super Wal-Marts in Sagnasty, on Bay Road (just behind the Hooters) and on (just off?) State Street.
