Modern Snow White Outfit

I've lurked here for ages but never made a post with a project.
So here we go!
Bear with me...it might be a bit messy!

So for a school project we had to make up an imaginary client/design brief/situation outline. My client was Disney and I had to make a modern interpretation of a Disney Princess gown. I chose Snow White as she is my favourite princess ever and it gave me heaps of colours to work with. Which is a change for me. I usually only work with black and dark colours.

It took me about 2 months all up to make all three pieces.







The shorts are made from a Cotton/Polyester and the jacket is a gorgeous satin back crepe. I got them for $10 a metre each at Jobs Warehouse, Bourke St, Melbourne.
The top is a silk that I got half price from The Fabric Store, Brunswick St Melbourne. I got 2 metres for $15.
All up it cost me around about $70 for the whole project which I think its pretty awesome for three pieces!

Go Victoria! But I find it so hard to find good fabric...I mean Spotlight? Ew. Lincraft. Not as ew but still ew. The pokey little run down place like jobs warehouse are the best. The jacket pattern is a bit tricky to follow and theres no seam allowance! gah! Also I stuffed up the lapels, hence the bows to cover my horrible overlocking frayed mess. But once I worked everything out it came up pretty good. I'd love to see it if you make one!

Thanks! It was definitely a challenge to balance them all out. I kinda happened on the fabrics by accident at all different times and just crossed my fingers they looked good together.

ok, when I saw the title I thought it would be some "sexy princess" outfit, and I am so glad I was wrong. This is fantastic! Love the primary colors, which are so good together but most people screw it up. Fabulous!
