The last few days have found me obsessed with Tinkerbell, mainly because I am a faerie and have recently returned to blonde. I started planning a Tinkerbell burlesque number, which I am currently saving up to costume correctly.

So, I found these shoes.

Which I easily turned into perfect Tink shoes with the deconstruction of my white ostrich boa that I never use.

Well, I had a party to go to last night, and no costume.
So Tink obviously had to happen, not for use as a burlesque costume in the future, but just for now.

I didn't have a lot of green fabric in my stash, so I patchworked a bunch of various green/blue fabrics together and drafted a pattern.

The blue in the front is blue/green iridescent dupioni silk that my mother bought me for Christmas. The big green patch at my waist is from a pair of leggings I wrecked to get more green fabric. The leggings got turned into boyshorts to wear under this EXTREMELY SHORT dress and got cut into strips for the dangly bits at the bows and the straps. There's also some striped knit fabric gotten on sale at Joann's [because I ALWAYS buy black/white striped fabric when it's there because I can usually never find it], some multi-green/blue/brown stripes with gold lines in it, some green plaid, and some multi-colored batik with a green base.

The back is elasticated at the waist to make it easy to put on and ties on either side of the elastic to cinch it in like Tink's dress does. It's pretty much an apron with some shape and a skirt.

I really like the pattern- it was easy to make and didn't threaten to come off at all during the night. I think I might make a couple more to wear for festivals and to slip on after burlesque numbers. I could totally rock some garter straps where the skirt comes up at the front panel.

Love always,
Hayley Jane

P.S. Might put together a tutorial when/if I make another one. Anyone interested?
