I know, I've been away for a while. I don't know why when I was doing all the DIY for the wedding I didn't make myself active again, but I didn't.  And as our first anniversary is coming up, I thought it was time to share the DIY wedding!  We got engaged on September 24, 2009, and picked our wedding date around October 2, so we had ~5 weeks to do it all....including finding a reception site, booking the JoP, and sending out invites! Oh my!  I didn't even know getting married was on Tim's mind when he proposed, and had assumed we wouldn't be getting engaged until Summer 2010, so I had nothing on my mind regarding a wedding, but somehow, we pulled it off!

Invites:
I bought an "invitation kit" at 50% off from JoAnn that had the invitations and the envelopes, a packet of vellum sheets from AC Moore, some $0.50 ribbon, a butterfly stamp, and a purple stamp pad. I ordered response postcards for "free" from vista print. I stamped out the butterflies while watching TV in the evening over 2 days, and then my mom and I put the invitations together in about an hour. Total cost for invites: $21

(in case you were wondering, we got married on 5 November, but held the reception for my family on 6 November so we used my married name on the invites. We held a separate reception in the UK for Tim's family this past April, using the same invites (obviously with the date/place changed))

My mom, aunt, and I made my dress, though it was mostly my mom. I have a post about it in the sewing section, but here's a finished pic of the dress anyway:

Flowers:
A friend of mine used to arrange flowers, so she helped. I knew I wanted silk flowers so I could use them at the wedding and both receptions.  The theme of the wedding became butterflies, and my husband is a train enthusiast (and a signalman), so I wanted to give him a surprise on his buttonhole.

I wanted something to honour my dad, so I attached a button from his dress uniform:

Corsages for my mom, his mum, and my aunt:

And the flowers for the attendants (a Maid of Honour and a Best Woman):

For the guest book, I took pages for what will be the wedding scrapbook and made guest pages to sign:

Menu (all food was DIY):

The amazing cake my friend made (pics make it look blue, but it was purple):

And I think that covers everything.  Oh, and I made a holder for my bouquet at the reception by adding ribbon to a mug:
