So, I work at a middle school and each team needed to carve a pumpkin to enter in the carving contest. This was our 6th grade team's entry:



Ralph Wiggum, of The Simpsons fame!

I taped the image (found via Stencilry) onto the pumpkin and went over it with a ball-point pen. Then, with the pen again, I went over the faint tracing lines on the pumpkin skin (I had to guess in a couple of spots because the original tracing didn't make an impression as deep as I had hoped). Then, I grabbed my Speedball linoleum carving tool, fitted with the U-gouge, and went to town! Later, the kids carved out our team designation on the back of the pumpkin.

And, even though I don't think our pumpkin won, it was a big hit with our students!

Cool! Never thought about carving a pumpkin with my lino tools before, but I dig it. I might have to try, thanks for the idea!
