Hi, my name is Rosie ("Hi Rosie") and I have an addiction to coiled fabric bowls. I've only made three so far, but I just know I'm going to make more; I won't be able to stop myself. Look for yourself how far it's gone - I've even put things in them for scale. It's uncontrollable.

The way the light plays over the raw edges of the fabric... it's hypnotic. I don't even try to look away anymore.

The first step is admitting your addiction, so I'm told. I really don't know what happens after that. Probably making more bowls.

Thank you for letting me share, and for you continued support.

Edited to add the tutorial that enabled me: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/33825/how-to-sew-a-fabric-bowl

I'm so proud that you can name the problem... and then work towards making it better- or at least making more.  Roll Eyes They're wonderful bowls and if you're going to have an addiction, it's good to have a creative and beautiful one! Just be honest with yourself and take it one day at a time.

Art made science her bitch.

Thanks pixeval! Don't be intimidated, it's fairly simple in terms of technique. Here's the tutorial I used: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/33825/how-to-sew-a-fabric-bowl

And thank you RunningNaked! Your thoughts bring me strength. Wink

Love these too! I am intimidated to try these as well, I've only been sewing for a little bit. I think these would be great gifts to make pretty inexpensively for the holidays though so I need to get over my intimidation and just jump right in, right?!
Beautiful work (I love the blue one the most!) and thanks for the inspiration! Who knows, maybe I'll be seeing you at your next meeting...

These are beautiful.  So many possibilities.  I've been trying to think of guy gifts, maybe a small one of these in masculine colors to hold change and keys.  Thanks for sharing your work and the tute link! Smiley

well, thelastkodama, I officially need help. I am on my third bowl and see no sign that I will discontinue this addiction anytime in the near future. You totally nailed it when you said hypnotic- the swirls, the color changes in the fabric and the thread... I could go on and on....

Great bowls. I've only made a few so far myself but they are really fun.
