Little Drummer Baby blanket

This was a quick little baby quilt that I recently finished for a friend. I wasn't feeling very creative pattern-wise, so I just sewed blocks of fabric into strips, and joined them with sashing.



I was having a really hard time finding fabric to coordinate with the nursery, which I thought was decorated turquoise and black. The baby's daddy is a professional drummer, and his mommy loves dogs... I thought I was doing pretty well with what I found until the baby shower, when I realized that the nursery was actually decorated in turquoise and BROWN.

D'oh.

Wow!  I think this little quilt came out great.  I'm sure they'll still love it, even if it's not quite the right colors--besides, it looks so cool I doubt anyone will care about the matching.

The baby blanket won't always be in the nursery, I know if I had that blanket it would come with me in the living room and in the car and any place baby would go!

This quilt is a great mix of colors. Plus, the fabrics you chose are very youthful(some quilts I see for babies look too mature a look to me).

Yep, I used a different stitch pattern inside each of the color blocks.
