I made this for a swap partner's daughter!  It was not the easiest plushie I've ever made but it sure was fun.  And apparently, my daughter spied it in my craft room while I was at school and totally was crushed when Daddy had to tell her it wasn't hers.  He firmly told me to keep toys wrapped up from now on and that I WAS going to make her one soon.  He did not tell me what would happen if I did not but his tone suggested it wouldn't be pleasant.  Heh.

I bought the pattern from DIYFluffies.  http://www.mariskavos.nl/fluffels/patterns.htm  She has a cute elephant and kitty pattern too that I'm thinking of buying.  Smiley

thanks for looking!  Smiley

I've been thinking about getting this pattern for awhile now. He sure is cute and you did a great job. You should make your daughter's in her favorite color. I know my daughter would love one in pink or purple.

I think he is adorable!  Maybe you could explain to your daughter, that not everything you make is for her.  That you like to spread the happiness around.  If my husband spoke to me like that, I would tell him where to go in a heart beat.

thanks everyone!  It was a pretty straight forward pattern, so i totally recommend it.  Smiley

oh she rarely gets anything i make.  its my new years solution for 2011.  to focus on some projects for her.  id hate for her to think back on her childhood and remember all the cool things momma made but none of them were for her.

and no worries, the hubby was joking.  i wouldnt have stood for it had he been serious.   Smiley

UH, yeah she's crushed that Its not for her, I'M crushed that its not for me!  Sooo Cute!  Little Button nosed dragon!  Ugh!  The cute!  Cheesy

And the comment about not crafting much for your kid, yeah, I'm the same.  I'm always making stuff for swaps, but Caleb barely ever gets anything I make, so I'm crafting him a bug bunch of stuff for Xmas and making him a big huge Swap package of goodness of his very own as my present for him.  (He is 9)  Smiley

Great job.  I've had the pattern wisted for ages and may need to try it soon.

How hard do you think it would be for an experienced sewer that has never done plushies?

thank you!  you can totally do it.  i consider myself fairly new at sewing.  there's nothing new in it.  just a few tedious parts but otherwise pretty approachable.  you should make one!

You did a fabulous job! Your daughter will be so excited when she gets one of her own. Smiley

I showed this to my little sister (who is 15 and obsessed with dragons and dinosaurs) and her first reaction was "I want one!". I guess I know what my next sewing project will be!

there was hand sewing to close up the stuffie after stuffing and to attach the arms, head, and wings, but it was pretty minimal.  there isn't any way around it for the head and  arms but i do think you could attach the wings by machine by cutting a slit into the body and inserting the base of the wing into the slit.  i debated doing that but decided to go with the directions for my first attempt.

i have the cat pattern.  it makes really cute cats!

i will totally buy the cat next.  thanks for the confirmation that the pattern does indeed make cute kitties!  Smiley

Grin Grin Grin and thank you everyone for all the compliments.  i am pretty proud of him and totally plan on making more!

squee!   Grin thanks everyone!  i don't think i've ever had a project get so many compliments!  i'm positively blushing!  but really all props go to the designer...it was a pretty easy pattern to follow.  anyone who sews can totally do this plushie!  it just takes patience...and you have to go slow but the end result is too cute so its totally worth it.
