I challenged myself to do freehand machine embroidery, since I'm doing the All Boards in a Year Craftalong, and went for recipe labels for the recipe binders I was making. I basically just turned the stitches down to very close to one another, grabbed some felt, and went for it.

Here's the first, on it's recipe binder:


And the second, on its own


I practiced with my initials.


I like the rustic look of the lettering, but if I did another set I would probably use some sort of stabilizer behind the felt.

I never thought to use my zig zag to make letters!!  Pretty good idea and I also like that rustic look!
