I got a scrap piece of material to check its sewing.....and it wont

I am just getting needle holes and no stitches

Is the thread slipping out of the needle as you start to sew? (that's happened to me before)

If that's what it's doing, it helps to hang on to the thread until you've sewn a couple stitches -- that way it can't slip out of the needle. Smiley

thank you I will try that today,
I have been intouch with my local sewing machine shop, and a service is 25 plus parts....so I will try your advice today, plus have it serviced as the tension spring may have 'gone' said the lady at the shop. Smiley
