Hi everyone!

I'm new to Berlin (new to Germany, in fact) and was hoping someone could recommend some craft stores for me- I've had a look at the other threads but (and I will sound silly) people mostly seem to be looking for something special, whereas I'm mostly hoping to find a run-of-the-mill chain store where I can buy knitting needles and other basic supplies. The stores here are basically -all- different to the ones in Australia, so I really don't even know where to begin.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Thanks everyone  Cheesy

Lauren.

Welcome to Berlin!

It's a bit different here to in Oz, that's for sure Wink

Very general stuff for craft you can usually get in department stores like Karstadt, but it's a small selection of stuff. Otherwise Werken Schenken Spielen at the Schlossstrasse stop on the U9 is reasonable (http://www.werken-spielen-schenken.de/) and the group of Wilhelm Rther hobby shops are pretty good (www.hobbyshop.de, several near Eisenacher strasse on the U7).
And, of course, La Bastellerie (http://labastellerie.com/blog/; near Grlitzer Bahnhof on the U1) has supplies, courses and handmade stuff.

cheers,
Jacinta

Thank you so much! Schlossstr. is not far from my university, so I'm going to go there after classes next week Smiley Finally I can do some knitting again!
