I'm a looooooong time stalker and admirer of all you ladies who sew your own stuff, and I wished I had the guts to have a go.
Well I finally did!!! I got sick of paying through the teeth for curvy clothes, and being height challenged, nothing fit me nice anyway - so I had a go at making something....

This pattern is Simplicity 2657.

What do you think?

I think you did a great job on your first dress. I am sure that you will keep on making new dresses. Once you tweak a pattern it becomes your TNT pattern that you spring board with by adding pocket, changing the width or length of the skirt, etc. All of those little details that give it a fresh look. Can't wait to see you next dress!

Thanks everyone for you lovely positive comments Smiley I am so proud of myself Smiley And I will be continuing. I've started making 2 cute tops - and when this crazy month of uni is over, I hope to go nuts and sew a complete summer wardrobe Smiley Fingers crossed!

omg, that looks really awesome on you!!

i remember when i was new to sewing... it was like i opened up the doors to Awesomeness! i haz some words of wisdom for you, since youre tall, and it looks like you want things that fit and flatter:

-try princess seamed dresses. i think theyll look just as good as the crossover bust style you did there. i love them. they make everyone look rad, and they dont make me look preggo like empire waists. (and theyre easy!)
-rayon is the best fabric ever for dresses with good drape, fit and comfort.

keep going!! youve hit on to something swell!

I love the fabric you have chosen and think the shape and the way the top crosses over is really flattering on you. Great first dress.

That dress is so well done - and so flattering on you.  I love the fabric you chose.
Now I must find that pattern!  I love the fact that it has wider straps than you see on most summer dresses.
