First, I love this pattern and designer: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowflake-30
I'd love to make all her designs. This one, however, was free. I started knitting in April 2010 and this is by far the most ambitious project to date- and, of course I ran out of yarn.  Undecided I figured if I could do this then maybe I'd be able to figure out a sweater pattern.

Here is the project page on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/zilamonster/snowflake

The pattern is charted and very easy to follow. The yarn is super soft and squishy. I'm pretty happy with it.

Now, about that sweater... any recommendations?

this is very pretty and I love the color, I also knit but out of all the crafts I dabble in, Knitting is the by far the one I have the most trouble with. I can never get the hang of things. But you did a great job, and I am sure you will find plenty of free sweater patterns on Ravelry that will suit you.

Mmm.. You can't go wrong with Malabrigo! Your shawlette turned out really nice. I can't wait to see what sweater you end up knitting. Smiley

How did you ever chose amongst her patterns? I have just come from her website with a new list of "to do" items.

You have done some beautiful work!
Your shawl/scarf is going to be very warm - just the thing to curl up with while you knit a sweater (and/or something else) in the months ahead.

This is absolutely gorgeous!! I also love that it uses Malabrigo (who doesn't love that stuff?!?! well, maybe people who can't wear wool...) and it is also a bulky knit...I really love when people can make flattering things using chunky and bulky yarn weights Smiley  It makes things go much quicker.

What did you have in mind for a sweater? Did you want to design one and incorporate this same lace pattern into it?  I highly encourage a top down raglan...they're my favorite kind of sweater to make because you can knit in the round and try on as you go.

I had the same problem! It didn't help that I am left handed and taught myself using you tube videos. But, I keep plugging away, making mistakes and wanting to tear my hair out. With each project I feel like I learn a little something which helps me with the next.

It is so lovely and soft. That must be why they call it Mmmmmmalalbrigo!

I love this: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/85-wavy-textured-hooded-vest

But feel like I should start with something less ambitious. I'm really liking those sweaters with the circle/bias look to them http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pinwheel-sweater-adult

In short, I haven't made up my mind  Huh
