These are really cute!   Smiley  I like your term "squishy".  That's cute!  I think you did a great job on these...especially the hair and expressions.  Great job!  Psychology is so necessary.

I LOVE these! Psych is one of my fave shows and these are fantastic.  I'd love to see how you did it. I'm a newbie sewer and would love to try these. My mom would love her own Shawn.  She just loves James. Smiley

First of all, these plushes are awesome. My mom, who is both dollmaker and Psych fan couldn't get over these. I love how much personality they have.

Anyway, I looked at both Babylondonstar and Ashfantastic's wonderful patterns (I find ashfantastic's tutorial a little easier to follow = because I am dense hee hee).

The only thing is neither tutorial has a nose! And your plushies do.

It looks like you cut a wedge in the bottom of the round face and sew it halfway up to give your plushies a nose. Is that correct? And would you change the back of the head to compensate, or just hide any discrepancies with hair?

BTW - I am a HUUUUGE Sherlock fan and your Moriarity rocks, except that is entirely too much work for me, and I like Ashfantastic's pattern because I can do everything but the head on the sewing machine at one time, and then just turn and stuff, and then spend my time obsessing over face and hair and clothing. Also, supposedly the plushies can stand up (have never seen a plushie do this, so I will believe this miracle when I see it).

I am going to try one of them this weekend, because I promised my sister a Jareth doll, and I am using Runo's Nekomimi pattern to do this, and the further I go the more complex it seems. Since I've cut it all out though. I may as well finish it. But I long for something simpler where you don't have to do each limb separately.

Anyway - thanks soooo much for these - the basic body shape is sooo versitile, and I can do my signature goddesses and gods fairly easy. Thanks so much for pointing me towards Babylon Londonstar and Ashfantastic, and if I end up selling these, I am definitely giving credit for the pattern where credit is due.

Thanks again for your inspiring work, which has inspired me to make dolls again!

First, I really want to say thank you - to you and everyone else - who has posted a comment about these little guys. I love them so much and to know other people do, too, is a little mind-blowing. It's rather overwhelming to have received such an amazing response.  Embarrassed Cheesy

Yeah, I didn't want them to have flat faces, so I just cut a wedge/dart in the bottom of the face. It is a trade off; no flat face, but a visible seam. I like it though. Smiley
I just went to have a look, and the back of the head looks to be mostly the same so I don't think you'd have compensate for it. And yes, hair is brilliant for hiding things anyway! Wink

LOL! Fellow Sherlock fan! I think I made Moriarty too happy looking and not evil enough, but yeah he was definitely an 11 out of 10 on the difficulty/work required scale.

I have made a ufo catcher plush and they do indeed stand up! Although I couldn't get mine to stand up straight and definitely not on their own.  Huh

Anyway, good luck with the project and I hope you post pics when you're done!!

Hi Noxhika,

The nose ends up great - a simple move for a little dimension to the face.

If you manage to share your pattern, I would definitely love a crack at it - as yours look very huggable, and even with my teeny scale plushes (my first pattern was basically like a gingerbread man cutout) they were conducive to hugging. Even Kali-ma, who I made with real bone skull beads and a girdle of nine arms.

I think huggable is important in a plush.

Also, do I spy with my little eye a Sherlock plushie in your icon? Cause if I do - please please please please post!!!

Best,
Novena*

I'm glad it worked for you! And yeah, I like them with "noses" too!  Cheesy

Ah, I am so very bad at time management. I still plan to share the pattern, but I need to put aside some time (stop making plushies long enough Wink) to sit down and fix it up and then do a tutorial/guide to go with it.

Hugging is very important in a plush!

Yep, Little Sherlock (and Little John) are done, I just need to put the finishing touches on Sherlock's gloves and take photos and then I'll be uploading pics. Hopefully by the weekend!! I'm excited about Sherlock, I think he's the best plushie I've made so far!

I wish I had a Lassie to snuggle with....

I would totally snuggle with your Lassie plush, maybe even double-snuggle with Lassie and Gus, but if you do ever get around to the rest of the USA crew, I'd dump them both for a Sam Ax doll~

Did you think about doing the back of the head with a seam to make it rounder?  I never care if there're seams showing on that kind of fabric, but if you do, well, you do~  ^_^
