so i bought this shirt maybe 2 years ago or so... but i wore it only once and i have really wanted to try to make it into a purse...
i had a hard time with the straps cause i used the scrap fabric from the shirt so nothing would go to waste... but anyway... here it is::

(outside)

(inside)

Fabulous job, mari_q! That design on the shirt is so cute. I'm thinking I need to try this with my rarely worn t-shirts!

excellent job you've done there, did you just cut two rectangles and sew them together or does it have a bottom too?
what did you use for lining?

i used the butterick 4041 pattern.
there is a bottom but it isn't reinforced with cardboard like the pattern says to use cause i was lazy...
and the lining was just a plain white fabric i had lying around...

btw for anybody who wants to try this or any purse:::
i know what it is like to not have money to be able to go buy a pattern, here are the dimensions of the purse BEFORE sewing::

the front and back are 13inches x 10 1/2inches
the 2 sides are 10 1/2inches x 4 1/2inches
and the bottom is 13inches x 4 1/2inches
and you double that for the lining

for the straps i just made them the lenth i wanted and didn't follow what the pattern said...

i hope that helps somebody...
