Ever try to convince family not to machine wash your hand knits?

Maybe this would convinse them. Just make a miniature version and sneak it in the laundry instead of the original.

Unfortunately, they would probably just wash all your handknits hoping for fun miniatures.

I made this hat and miniature for my supervisors daughter. The miniture is for her toy animal.

I have a sudden image of one of these on a hamster or pet rat. Is that wrong?

So cute. I have a knit hat I swear is growing. I keep thinking it's gonna eat my head. I can't imagine making anything that small.

First thought: "OMG, It's a mini-Jayne hat!!!"

Second thought:  "Wow, that makes my 1/2 inch granny squares not so nuts or at least I have good company."

It is a size 5 hook for making lace. I used needle punch yarn as I have lots of colors. It is slightly thinner than fingering weight.

I LOVE this so much. Oh I would just love to see the face, as it is unexpectedly pulled out of the wash.
