Some of us have been lucky, others not so much...

but yes, the beautiful bride always tells you, "you can so wear that again!"

Same thing my mom told me when I was a bridesmaid at her wedding, but lordy... I'm never wearing that thing again!

What could we do with our old bridesmaid dresses(hopefuly none of us having 27 stuffed into a closet!)?

Change them into beautiful new outfits? purses? home decor? a revenge gift disguised as an anniversary gift for the bride? Some of us could probably dress a troop of girlscouts in one of our old dresses!

Awww,... I just sold my one and only bridesmaid's dress at a garage sale!! If I'd only thought to maybe change it somehow... drat it. I need to be a bit more open minded as far as reconning clothes. >.<

I have one from 2007.  Gorgeous burgundy color and looked great on me but wtf am I going to do with it?  This is the perfect opportunity to try to come up with something.  And not only do I have a dress, I have a bolero and a scarf thing.  To top that off, the bride just had her first daughter.  Wink

I have at least 3 bridesmaid dresses.  One I really like, and really don't want to cut into, but let's face, when will I ever wear it again, really?  This would be fun to do, but what to do with them?  One is a dark purple with a yellow scarf, one is a very nice lilac color with embroidered flowers on the bodice, and the other one is a sage/lt green color.

When I was little, I was a flower girl. My mom made the dress. Years later she used that fabric to make a wedding dress for a large porcelain doll. I still have the doll.

I bet any American girl doll would look good in a new fancy dress!

haha, great idea! I have one from my best friend's wedding in '01. I would be fine with altering it seeing as how it's been hanging in my closet all this time (and is like 4 sizes too small at this point lol!)

Great idea! I have the corset style bodice and skirt from my sister's wedding around here somewhere. The top is lovely, but lilac...and the skirt is long and oh so boring Cheesy

I wonder if I could still get either on Roll Eyes

Last month a few friends and I took a married girls trip away and took our old brides maids dresses along.  We did a wreck the dress photo shoot with my camera as a fun trip memory thing.  It was a blast and took care of those dresses for us Smiley  We are planning another wreck the dress for our next trip!

this is a link to the photos we did.

I'm so glad other people are interested. This was thrown out as an idea for a challenge idea on the RRR board, but thought it was so clever and fun sounding, that I wanted to submit it on the Craftster Challenges board. It would be awesome if we do it one of these months! Maybe it would make a fun springtime challenge?

I have an olive dress (that my sister swore was "fern" colored) and a bright red one.  I would love to keep the bodice of the red one, but could see doing something holiday-themed with the rest.  Hmmmmm... *thinking cap on*.

One of my bridesmaids was a local beauty queen who had a public appearance after my reception.  She put on her sash and tiara with the bridesmaid dress and went like that. And my sister in law wore hers to prom the next spring. I don't know what it cost for the one bridesmaid who didn't have a family member that could sew for her, but for the rest of them the material actually cost less than the guys' tux rentals. I'd say I did pretty good.

Because not al of us have held such an important role at a wedding, can it include your prom dress?
I made mine a little over two years ago, and I have nothing I could wear it to.
I also have my grade 8 grad dress still, which could use a facelift.

I love the idea of this!!!!  Being an old, slightly smarter person than in my reckless youth I have successfully avoided becoming a bridesmaid for a very long time...but I remember the pain!
Every time I see the 3rd picture down (the accordion ice cream dress???wtf?) I just start laughing.

You ladies look beautiful!! (though I imagine it is the ecstatic glow on your faces from destroying the dresses)
I love the picture of the girl in red floating in the swimming pool, her dress isn't too bad but the color looks fantastic on her!

I would LOVE this challenge! I already have five bridesmaids dresses, and while one of them is a super cute sundress from J. Crew, I also have two blood red sweetheart neckline, embroidered dresses from different weddings, gross!
