Everyone started out somewhere with a little something. Proud of it? Ashamed of it? Well, I thought we could post pics of our first little pieces and share some of the things we've learned how to do and what not
I came up with this idea because I was looking for old clay that I've stored 3 years ago out of frustration. In the corner of the old tool shed, I found my clay plus a trip down memory lane.
(Plus, my Amco clay pasta machine that I bought at Hobby Lobby FINALLY works smoothly! I bet it was from the metal expanding from the heat and then shrinking in the winter.)
I'll go first:
My jewelry box/time capsule
A general theme of fruits and obsessed fan theme
I was obsessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender back when it first aired. Then I blew all my hard-earned cash for making these
Something I learned from resin making was baking them for 15 min or so at 350 degrees to get rid of tackiness. However, that made the colors fade on some of my pieces (I think it's due to the fact that the runnier, transparent dyes held color more loosely than the thicker, opaque ones). But I don't think I'll ever go back to resin jewelry because I don't have the patience to wait for it to cure. Meh, who knows - I told myself I'll never go back to using polymer clay, but here I am again.
Love to hear from everyone
