I have had this old plain brown beat up suitcase for quite some time that I couldn't bear to throw away! I've seen some great suitcases redone on here and became inspired!!! Unfortuneatly i didn't take a "before" photo (slaps self on head)! But it was just a plain brown suitcase with a green stiped interior.

I washed the outside of the suitcase and applied a layer of torn newspaper using Modge Podge. Then I found some Asian inspired photos from some magazines for a tranquil inspiration and Modge Podged those on top. Then I decorated with some glitter, buttons, and charms. I Used some acrylic paint and stamps to finish up! I applied some ribbon trim with hot glue around the top and bottom of the suitcase.
I also glued a strip of ribbon to the inside of the top to serve as a pull tap to help lift the top when closed. The old leather handle had broken so I replaced it with some silky braided rope.

Then I reinforced the hinges on the inside with some ribbon as well. I replaced the bootom liner of the suitcase with a few hand-sewn silk-like quilt sqaures and hot glued the liner into place and trimmed it out with ribbon as well. the top pocket was still in good shape so I left it!

I liked how it turned out and was thinking of giving it as a Christmas gift with little candles and scented oils and other meditation items wrapped inside. What do you think? I am not so sure now...... Thank you for looking and sharing your insights!

I love it!
And am sure if you can stand to part with it, it would be a wonderful gift, just as it is.
