My sister came up from Brisbane on Friday, so yesterday we made these skirts. We made some other stuff too, but I don't have photos yet ((we decided to dye our hair)).

I taught her how to make a fold-over band mini. I wrote a tutorial for it, but it's over on my blog.

We stencilled a toxic waste symbol onto them as well. I use just black paint mixed with fabric medium. I have a tonne of medium, and want touse it all up before I actually buy proper fabric paint. Fabric medium makes any paint into fabric paint Smiley I am yet to see if it works with the Glow in the Dark paint I bought last year. Hah.

I just used a piece of thick paper and traced a toxic waste symbol from google images straight from the screen. Then I cut it out and just held it tight while I stabbed the fabric with the paintbrush. A quick n dirty stencil, but it's alright. It still worked Smiley

That's my son taking my skirt off me while I was trying to cut out the bands to match it... He wasn't impressed with me asking for it back!

My sister has just got the internets at her house, and I'm trying really hard to make her join Craftster, and start a blog. I already made her join my DIY community on livejournal, so I think there is hope for her! ((You could always hassle her about it to make her do it! She's a damn good seamstress, she just needs to practice!))

Wow, you two are gorgeous.
The skirts/stencils are hot!
I would love a skirt like that with a tight band right above the knees.
I love that black off shoulder shirt too! That's my next project.
