So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains.

Well, after fighting with his wings and considering throwing all my yarn out the window, I finally finished my Cthulhu. I used the pattern from http://cthulhucrochet.blogspot.com/2010/05/cuddly-cthulhu-with-free-pattern.html with a couple tweaks here and there )I changed the wings a bit, for instance, and the gauge on my yarn was somewhat different, so he came out a bit smaller). He's not perfect, but I think he turned out great. He's my third ami and he just makes me want to make more and more! Thanks for looking!

C&C greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Yeah I had a LOT of problems with them. Then after someone broke the pattern for them up, tweaked it a touch, and revised it a bit for me, it wasn't as difficult. I felt so silly after I finally made them, there's no reason I should have been having so much trouble, but apparently a lot of people do.

lol, I made one from the Creepy Cuties book and he wasn't nearly as adorable as this one! How did you get those eyes?!?!? I had to improvise and use two buttons.

I haven't seen those, but with some tweaking the pattern I used is great. I got my eyes from Hobby Lobby. They have safety eyes there, 4 sets for 99 cents. I initially used buttons, too, and then I stumbled on those.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears this little guy is made with the "fuzzy side" of the fabric on the outside and the "bumpy side" on the inside. Magnificent! I think little toys look more cuddly with the fuzzy side out, alas, it seems I am in the minority of crocheters. Your cthulhu is extra cuddly, so that's win. To me, at least.

I love the pattern from cthulhucrochet. I'm working on my third cthulhu now.

Hmm. Yeah he's "fuzzy side" out. I never really get much of a ridge or bump on the other side of my work though, since I go through both loops in the stitch. I might crochet weird or something, but when I start him the "fuzzy side" is automatically on the outside, I suppose because of how I crochet and the direction.
Thank you! I'd love to see what yours look like!

I think he looks adorable! The smaller they come out the cuter they are. I like what you did with the wings, they seem a bit tentaclely themselves!

Sorry the wing part of the pattern was confusing. I have added a tutorial for the wings (http://cthulhucrochet.blogspot.com/2009/09/wing-tutorial-for-tiny-cthulhu.html). If anyone wants to PM me or send me a message through the email address listed on the blog, I'd love more feedback about what part of the wing directions people find confusing.

Thanks again for sharing your cthulhu. It's nice to see the patterns being used. Smiley

Thanks! Even though I got confused, I still love the way he turned out. You made a great pattern! A lot of more experienced crocheter's I know didn't have problems with it at all, so I think it was just me, although they found a few parts that had to be reworded a bit, but it was nothing major. I'll PM you what they sent me when they looked at it, but it's probably nothing that'd have to be changed. Thanks for providing us with something so awesome to work with (I can't create patterns for the life of me yet), I'll definitely be making him many other Cthulhu friends to hang out with.
