Well to be honest I dont see a problem with serving food on it.....it's cured and 100% washable and that paint isn't budging at all! and frankly I'm just using it for  cupcakes and cookies....and they dont end up sitting there long LOL. If you were concerned about it I guess you could make your self some cute paper doillies to place under the food....

love love love this! I do this type of thing all the time. My Chef at work said to always make sure to cut and place some clear parchment or wax paper under
any foods that might be touching the plate itself. The lacquer particles in the paint can be poisons to your health. She said even for store bought decorative plates you should do the
same because many are made and painted in china and they do not have the same health standards as in the US and could contain lead. Plus you can still see the pretty plate and makes
it look clean and fancy!

This is wonderful!  I purchased plates and glasses from a thrift store to make one of these for my daughters birthday.  I never even thought about painting them though!  Great job.
