Newbie: How would I make this with seed beads?

I've never done any beading before, so apologies if this is a really obvious question (have to start somewhere!)

I want to make a square with seed beads - wrapping the edges around an outside wire, thus:



Most beading I've seen starts at a corner, although I would be worried that it would skew the square. Is there any reason not to thread the beads in lines?

Can you see any problems with wrapping the beading wire around the outside?

Does the beaded section need to be solid?  If not, I think the easiest way to be able to get the wire around the frame-thing on all sides would be to do a right-angle weave.
