With the help of Mike's and the internet I taught myself how to cast on, and do a few rows. I haven't gone as far as to figure out how to cast off yet....but it's a start.

Here it is! My very first square makes it's debut!

congrats to both of you.
and if you end up like me you won't need to cast off anyway, i get 1/2 way through something and generally stop it and start something else. though i have finished some stuff over the years i think i have about 4 DOZEN works in various states of progress and another dozen in a box waiting to get frogged out and made into something different. haha

nice work and again congrats to both of you.

I learned tonight! Although I don't have a picture to show... and mine certainly didn't look as good as that.. Perhaps it was because I was missing the Mikes? Lol.

Loving the booze and the knitting. :] I have only knit scarves on and off for the past few years, and i just started knitting my first non scarf item today! Well i mean, it's a baby blanket. So really it's the same as a scarf just with more to cast on. But oh well. IT COUNTS.

Keep it up. Tongue

Haha, I think that's the same yarn I used when I knit my first project!  I was going for a scarf, then started using it to test new stitches, then finally said f-it and started knitting useable scarves.

So nicely turned out!! Just started learning and myknit stitch is pretty loose, maybe its because of the size of the stick? its 5mm...

And Congratz for learning knitting, its sure is fun! (now i prefer knitting for soft textures)

Your stitches/tension will become more even over time and with practice.  Just keep at it! Smiley
