So I decided to draft my own purse pattern for the first time.  In the past I've pretty much only made rectangle and square bags if I didn't have a tute.  I have the shell of this purse finished.  The outside is pleated and is narrower on the top than it is the bottom.  The bottom corners are rounded.  The front and back are joined by a gusset (hope that's the right word).  I kind of have an idea of how to measure for the lining.  It's basically the same size and shape as my shell when I flatten it out right?  Do I need to put a gusset in the lining since I have one on the shell?

I would make it just like the outside; the lining should support the outside of the bag as well as hold your stuff!

Just make the pieces the same size and shape the prepared outside pieces have.  That is, inside is the same as outside, but skipping pleats and so.
