shade of shadow, for your machine..unthread it completely, change the needle, before you rethread it, get a cheap stiff bristled brush and clear out all of the lint from all around the bobbin casing and the feed dogs, then oil it if your machine is an oilable one...run some waste fabric through it for a while and that all will solve 99% of machine problems

as for diet diet..i am doing the HCG diet..it rocks!..wont hijack the thread, so pm me if you want details..or the recipe for the yummy carb free, sugar free vanilla sugar cookies.

and as for the ritual with mother and daughter. I really wanted to do a coming of age ritual with my daughter when she first started menstruating...I have always been very open about that, but she internalised a lot of societal notions about it being 'dirty' and 'shameful' and absolutely refused to do anything, i wanted a get together with some older women, to share advice, wisdom etc...but no-go. So instead I asked them all to get her a card and a little gift, as I really believe its a time to celebrate. She got a handful of cards and little gifts and it did make her feel special.

Never thought about doing a coming of age ritual with my daughter, as much I wish I would've had one myself. My dd talks openly about it being the only girl in the house with 3 brothers it really surprises me sometimes.

I wish I'd had a coming of age ritual when I got my monthly, but that's really not my mom's kind of thing, if I'd ever said something like that shed be like "what? *confused*" :s

I'm starting mine today and I wish I had more of a reason to celebrate it than the usual reasons. (Hey I can have kids if I ever want to and Hey I'm not pregnant. (Boyfriend used to point that one out even before we dated I think lol. He says I should look at it as a bright side x_x)

A blossoming cake sounds really cool!

Also, cake sounds really yummy right now. I'm half tempted to go buy cake lol. (I'm standing outside my high school waiting for my dad to pick me up and take me home. I spent art doubled over my desk because my cramps were so bad)

A warm bath with my favorite bath salts and bubbles usually does me good. Hope you feel better.
