Glass Category Challenge - Easy Being Green - Due Oct 25 - Oct 31

Winners Announced -- Thank you all for an awesome challenge!  We actually had a tie for first, so congratulations HSG and SewIn2Disney!!  Check out the blog feature about this challenge here.

Scroll up to vote!  Vote now through November 8, 2010! Smiley

10/25/10 - The entry board is open!
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=453.0

It's time for the first ever Glass Category challenge! Shocked  Based on all of your amazing input, your first challenge is Easy Being Green!

For this Easy Being Green challenge, your mission is to create a glass project using any glass technique(s) of your liking, but the star of your project must be something recycled!  Your project can have other components and supplies, but the focus should really be the recycled piece/material.

Rules:

  • Craft your project during this challenge period (Sep 25 - Oct 31 2010) only.  Projects created or posted before this timeframe will not be removed from the entry board, but they will be excluded from the voting poll.
  • Post your craft during the period of Oct 25 - Oct 31 2010. No sooner.  No later.  On Oct 25 there will be a special folder created for entries here on the Glass category board.
  • Voting will happen from Nov 1 - Nov 8 2010.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project (Although your entry can have multiple components to it).

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, please give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Craftster Blog, Craftster Twitter and Craftster Facebook
(2) and this generously-donated prize [winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.]...

$35 (USD) to spend at CUTEureCreations!

CUTEureCreations is a handmade boutique specializing in accessories for the young and the young at heart; including crochet newsboy beanies and booties with a hint of nostalgia for the whole family, and hair accessories for all the girls in your life.  She even offers a discount exchange program for professional photographers, and creates custom pieces on request!

You can find CUTEureCreations on Etsy, Facebook and, if you're lucky, even coming to a Fall Show near you.  Check back often because she adds new pieces and styles frequently (I know this because I ogle over her shop on a regular basis Grin Cheesy)!

Good luck, glass crafters!!

Do you have a crafty business?  Would you like to donate a prize to one of our category challenges?  Check out this thread for more info! Smiley

One question for the piece that has to be recycled.

Does that piece need to be glass itself?

The idea I have is that my substrate would be the recycled part, and that is not made of glass.

Oh, good question!  The recycled portion does not need to be glass. Smiley

Just thought I'd pipe up here and say that I've got my recycled glass item almost done for the Challenge.  I've got one more thing I want to do with before it's considered complete!

And I'm happy with it so far. That's even more amazing.  You know how it is...you imagine doing something in your head and it doesn't come out exactly how you thought it would?  This came out about 90% like I thought it would.  Happy Dance!
