I received from crazyda79 this afternoon- my three people were Edgar Allan Poe, Frida Kahlo, and Leonardo DaVinci. Crazyda79 made me a 4" x 4" canvas with a tiny printed version of Poe's "The Raven" that has a raven painted on top of the text.

Thank you crazyda79  Smiley

My obsession with Poe has led me to learn more about corvids (crows and ravens) and they've become my favorite animal. I am planning a raven/craft tattoo  Grin

I was reading a few weeks ago about how smart ravens are. I can't find the links right now, but there is a YouTube vid showing not just tool use but tool making, by a raven trying to get at some food. Really cool.

I got the most wonderful package from rainysunshine789!  I said I liked 50s housewife stuff and here is what she did with my theme - (I also said I wanted something USEABLE and boy, did she come thru!)

She made me a housewife box, and inside is a notebook and index cards which I will use in a bunch of different ways. I cant decide if I should keep my book in my car, or by my computer.... choices choices.  I am a writer, so I am constantly thinking of ideas in my car and needing to write them down right away...  I think I vote for the car.  Then as you can see, she sent me more than that!  She gave me two pieces of jewelry that I can keep in the box!
Here is a close up of the box -

and the back...

I love the background of 50s starburst pattern - a real favorite of mine!!
Closeups of the cool stuff on the notebook -

Then, we have my owl necklace!  I have been on an auction sight bidding on this same pendant... now I actually own it!  I love it!!  It looks great made into a necklace with the dangling beads on it.

and I am so into earrings - you will seldom find me with bare ears. These that rainysunshine789 made for me are so pretty.
thank you for a terrific package.   I truly love it all!!    xx Meg

I received a few days ago.  I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post pictures, but things have been crazy here this week.  When I showed this to my boyfriend, he immediately put it on, then later hung it up on the hearth where we're looking all the time.  He was quite impressed.  I have to say it looks pretty awesome, too.

I received a lovely necklace from JacquelineD, who chose my American Indian theme:

In her note to me, she said the necklace was inspired by Navajo prayer sticks.  Jacqueline used a small stick (already fallen from a tree) as a base around which she wrapped (what I assume is) embroidery thread, and embellished it with three seed beads and a dainty feather charm she had gotten at a Native American fair earlier this year.

The more I look at this small treasure the more I appreciate Jacqueline's design and crafting skills.  Thanks again, Jacqueline, for your thoughtful gift -- I've already worn it twice since it arrived!

I've recieved an awesome pakage from Jemimah!

She chose Franz Marc and Victorian from my list of themes and created these two tiny objects:

A Franz Marc inspired box (yes its my Avatar pic that she HAND PAINTED onto the box!)

I've been showing everyone since I've gotten it, it's just so amazing!

Inside the box was this beautiful Victorian Style 'jet' necklace:

Thanks Jemimah, I only hope you like what I've made you!

That painting is uncanny! Looks just like the original. So beautiful.

Alright, I'm a little late but here's the lovely gift Waterbaby sent me. It's will be cherished.

It's made in a way I've never seen up close before. Image transfer on brass, and a polymere clay frame with inks and metallic rubs.

The subject matter is very important to me. The quote is from Constantin Stanislavksi, who was the inspiration for a group called the "Group Theatre". The Group Theatre had a monumental impact on the art of acting, as they were sort of the founders of "Method acting" I'm a studying actress myself, and Stanislavski has been a huge inspirtaion to me. This summer I even got to study at the school created by one of the original group theatre members AND the only one to study with Stanislavski himself - Stella Adler. So, needless to say, this piece is very important to me and I was just really thrilled to receive it. Thank you again, Waterbaby! I will love it forever Smiley

Here's a close up, I love the framing. I'm going to have a go of it myself!

That quote/picture is gorgeous, what a lovely effect! Great pendants too, well done everyone Smiley

I'm so glad you like your tiny things Ralph Grin

I can't claim to have entirely free-handed the painting, (I didn't have time to do that I'm afraid, so I did cheat a bit to get the shapes right), but all the colours and shading were done just by eye. So much fun to do, I love the way Franz Marc used colour!

Since we sent about the same time, I think the postie might have something for me later today ... Cheesy

I've received an amazing package from Ralph!

Ancient Near Eastern lions!! (I think they are Babylonian.) Necklace and earrings, in a matching metal box.

Aren't they awesome? She put sand in the poly clay to give them a cool texture.

Thanks so much  Ralph, they are great (and fierce Cheesy)!

I received on Monday from AKAmber, but due to an ill-conceived tidying up, I misplaced my camera for a couple of days. Now, however, here they are

They are stone (quite heavy stone too) tiles, decorated with images of Queen Elizabeth I. They are backed with felt & so I will use them as coaters.
Also included was this tea wallet

Thank you very much AKAmber. I love them. I only hope you love yours as much (and that it gets there sometime this year).

Sorry for the double post but I received my package! Ruby sent me a pouch which she made with the nalbinding technique. it's a bit bigger than OTT, but I guess we can get past that Wink She dyed the yarn herself!!! This is from one of my other favourite periods, the Viking-era. Ruby knows me quite well Wink I love the autumn-like colours, they are perfect!!!
Thank you so much!!!

The three shades of green are from a red-leafed kind of maple that grows next door, and the two shades of yellow are nettle (which surprisingly didn't grow next door and taught me quite the lesson about plants shooting you full of histamin when you want to be too cool for gloves Grin). This is definitely my most favourite nalbinding piece, I started at the bottom, and then just followed the shades of the colors with the decreases and increases, so the pouch got bigger when the colors were lighter, and vice versa, like the colors were stretched over a bigger surface... I have made this for seneris a while ago because we always wanted to swap and never got around to, and recreated it once, but this is the original, and I had it on my crafting desk just to look at it for a long time. And just when I put it into the basket with the nalbinding, we get to swap for real! It always felt like it didn't belong to me, so I'm happy I could finally give it to the rightful owner Grin
And I didn't spin the yarn myself, I bought it handspun and dyed it then.
Don't currently remember the stitch... probably something over three loops...

And... I also received today! seneris embroidered a needlebook for me, and I love it so much! Not only is the embroidery awesome, and way beyond anything I could do, but also is the pattern not only original medieval, but also reminds me of celtic weaving patterns, so it covers two of my most favourite periods!

So pretty! Stitched on both sides, and lined on the inside!

Hemmed with a braided trim. The funny thing is I decided to braid the strap for her pouch too, although I usually never do that.

Thanks you, seneris!

Here's my pretty little tiny thing from rhapsody, which is a coin purse inspired by Victorian crazy quilting designs. The detail on it with the embroidery and beading is amazing!

The other side is just as impressive, and different again. She told me the buttons were her grandmother's, and vintage from the late 19th/early 20th Century.

It even came wrapped as a fancy package, with coordinating ribbons. That scrap of green is a bit of the tissue paper it was wrapped with. I felt so privileged to be receiving it!

Thanks rhapsody, it's gorgeous!

Here is the one tiny thing I sent to rhapsody. Two of her themes were illuminated letters and the Anglo-Saxons (where she pointed out an interested in the Lindisfarne Gospels).

I made an embroidered illuminated lettter M coin purse:

That was based on one from the Lindisfarne Gospels:

(I was working from this artist's rendition of it: http://www.callibeth.com/galleries/gallery1/illm.php)
